Description
Thunderbird MB375 Mains and Battery Fence Energiser
The Thunderbird MB375 is an Australian-made multi-powered electric fence energiser designed to operate from 240V mains electricity or an external 12V battery. With 3.4 joules of stored energy, it can power up to 35km of clean fencing under ideal conditions.
An optional solar kit can also be connected for off-grid installations. This flexibility makes the MB375 suitable for permanent farm fences, remote paddocks and properties where battery backup is valuable.
Why Choose the Thunderbird MB375?
- Powers up to 35km of clean fence under ideal conditions
- 3.4 joules of stored energy
- Operates from 240V mains or an external 12V battery
- Compatible with an optional solar-power system
- Mains adaptor and 12V battery lead supplied

Flexible Mains and Battery Operation
The MB375 can provide continuous operation from mains electricity or run from an external 12V battery where a standard power supply is unavailable. The supplied mains adaptor and battery lead allow the energiser to be configured for either power source.
Battery operation is also useful as a backup where the mains supply is unreliable. The external battery must be correctly maintained and protected from excessive discharge.
Optional Solar Power
The Thunderbird MB375 can be paired with a compatible solar kit for remote and off-grid electric fencing. Thunderbird recommends a solar panel of at least 25 watts and an external deep-cycle battery of at least 80Ah for a typical solar installation.
Solar-panel requirements can vary according to location, seasonal sunlight, fence load and battery capacity. Larger panels may be required in areas with limited sunlight or demanding fence conditions.
Designed for Farm Electric Fencing
The MB375 provides useful capacity for livestock paddocks, permanent boundaries and medium-length farm fence systems. Its sealed enclosure and coated electronic components help support dependable operation in Australian farming conditions.
The advertised 35km distance is based on ideal conditions. Vegetation, multiple live wires, long underground cable runs, damaged insulators and poor earthing can considerably reduce the effective fence distance.
Earthing and Installation
A correctly designed earth system is essential for receiving the full benefit of the MB375’s output. Multiple long galvanised earth stakes may be required, particularly in dry, rocky or sandy ground.
Install mains-powered equipment in a dry, protected and well-ventilated location. Use suitable double-insulated electric fence cable between the energiser, fence and earth system, and follow Thunderbird’s supplied instructions.
Keep the electric fence earth system away from household electrical earths, telecommunications equipment, water pipes and other utility earth systems.

Is the Thunderbird MB375 Right for Your Fence?
The MB375 is suitable for medium-sized farms requiring a choice of mains, battery or solar operation. It is a practical option for permanent livestock fencing, remote paddocks and properties where maintaining fence power during mains interruptions is important.
For short paddock fences, a smaller energiser may be more economical. For extensive fence networks, heavy vegetation or major future expansion, select a larger model with additional stored energy and reserve capacity.
