Remote-Ready Fence Operation

The MB1060R can be paired with a compatible Thunderbird remote control, sold separately. This enables the energiser to be switched between operating and standby modes from the fence line.

Choosing the Right 12V Battery

A 200Ah deep-cycle or marine battery is recommended for this system. Battery capacity should be confirmed against the energiser’s requirements, local sunlight, fence load and the reserve power needed during periods of cloudy weather.

An old, damaged or undersized battery may fail to hold enough energy to run the fence overnight or through several days of limited sunlight.

Understanding the 85km Fence Rating

The 85km figure is a maximum ideal-condition rating rather than a guaranteed length of installed farm fence. Actual performance depends on how much electrical load the fence places on the energiser.

Vegetation, inadequate earthing, damaged insulators, inferior wire joins, underground cable and multiple live wires can all reduce effective performance. A shorter fence covered in heavy grass may require more energy than a considerably longer, clean fence.

Positioning the 80W Solar Panel

Mount the panel in an open position where it receives direct sunlight throughout the day. In Australia, a north-facing position will generally provide the strongest year-round solar exposure.

Avoid shade from trees, buildings and equipment. Keep the panel clean and regularly inspect its mounting system, cables, regulator and battery connections.

The Thunderbird energiser includes a two-year manufacturer’s warranty plus one additional year provided by Horsley Wholesale. The fitted lightning spark-gap protection carries a six-month lightning warranty, subject to the applicable warranty conditions.
