The Gallagher MBS2800i energiser helps you manage extensive livestock fencing with greater confidence by combining substantial power with intelligent fence-performance monitoring. Instead of finding out about a fault after livestock escape, the i Series system provides information that helps you investigate changing fence conditions sooner.

With 28 joules of stored energy and up to 15.5 joules of output energy, the MBS2800i provides significant capacity for large properties, demanding multiwire systems and long fence networks.

Gallagher MBS2800i Energiser Monitoring

The supplied Energiser Controller separates the fence information from the main energiser. This allows the energiser to remain installed in a protected location while the controller is positioned somewhere more convenient.

The controller can be installed up to approximately 50 metres from the energiser using suitable compatible cabling. It displays fence voltage, earth performance and alarm information, giving you a clearer view of the system’s condition.

Quick-scan performance lights make routine checks simpler. Green indicates normal fence operation, while red warning lights can indicate a fault or sudden increase in electrical load.

Find Fence Faults More Efficiently

Finding a fault across an extensive fence network can take hours. The MBS2800i can be expanded with compatible Gallagher i Series Fence Monitors, allowing different parts of the property to be monitored as separate fence zones.

If a monitored zone loses voltage, the controller can help direct you towards the affected section. An optional compatible Remote and Fault Finder can then assist with locating the fault and switching off the energiser while repairs are completed.

Fence Monitors, remote fault finders and communication gateways are optional accessories and are sold separately.

Gallagher MBS2800i Energiser Power Options

The MBS2800i can operate from mains electricity, an external 12V battery or an appropriately designed solar system. This flexibility allows the energiser to be used on large permanent fence networks, remote installations and systems requiring backup power.

Battery capacity and solar-panel requirements must be calculated according to geographic location, seasonal sunlight, expected fence load and the energiser’s power requirements.

Please note: External batteries, solar panels and solar regulators are not included with the standalone energiser system.

Intelligent Fence Performance

The MBS2800i adjusts its output according to changing fence conditions. This helps maintain effective animal control while avoiding unnecessary power consumption.

Its smart battery-management system can reduce pulse frequency and output energy when necessary to help protect an external battery from excessive discharge.

Split-bolt recessed terminals provide secure electrical connections, while built-in lightning and short-circuit protection help protect the energiser from common electrical risks.

Understanding the 80km Rating

The advertised 80km multiwire distance represents a clean, well-constructed fence operating under ideal conditions. Gallagher’s recommendation of approximately 20km is generally a more practical starting point for a working multiwire fence.

Fence length alone does not determine the correct energiser size. Important factors include:

Correct Earthing and Installation

Dry, sandy or rocky ground may require additional earth stakes or an earth-return fence design. Keep electric-fence earth stakes separated from mains cabling, telecommunications equipment, water pipes and building earth systems.

Install the energiser and its power supply in a suitable protected location according to the supplied instructions.
