The Gallagher MBS6500i is a high-performance i Series electric fence energiser designed for extensive farm fencing and demanding off-grid installations. With 65 joules of stored energy and 49 joules of output energy, it provides substantial power for large properties and long multiwire fence systems.

The MBS6500i can operate from mains electricity, a 12V battery or an appropriately designed solar-power system. This flexibility makes it suitable for remote areas, unreliable mains supplies and farms requiring battery backup during power interruptions.

Flexible Mains, Battery and Solar Power

The MBS6500i can be powered from mains electricity, an external 12V battery or a compatible solar installation. A mains and battery lead set is supplied with the energiser, providing the connections required for the available power options.

The battery and solar panel are sold separately. Battery-backup and solar systems must be correctly sized for the energiser, location and expected periods without mains power or sunlight.

Advanced i Series Fence Monitoring

Gallagher i Series technology monitors fence performance and adapts the energiser’s output as fence conditions change. Performance information is displayed on the separate Energizer Controller, which can be positioned outdoors up to approximately 50 metres from the energiser.

When combined with compatible i Series equipment, the system can identify fence faults, monitor individual areas and allow the energiser to be switched off remotely while repairs are completed.

An optional Gallagher i Series App Gateway can connect the energiser to the Gallagher Devices app through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. This allows compatible users to monitor fence performance, receive fault notifications and control the energiser from a mobile device.

An i Series Satellite Gateway is also available separately for remote properties where normal internet connectivity is limited. Confirm gateway coverage and compatibility before ordering.

Designed for Large and Remote Properties

The MBS6500i is designed for long fence lines, large grazing properties and locations where dependable power and rapid fault identification are essential. Its substantial output provides reserve capacity when vegetation, long lead-out runs and multiple live wires increase the load on the system.

The advertised 150km distance represents a clean fence under ideal conditions. Gallagher’s 40km multiwire recommendation provides a more practical starting point when designing a working farm fence.

Earthing and Installation Requirements

A high-output energiser requires a professionally designed earth system and suitable high-conductivity lead-out. The number and length of earth stakes must be matched to soil conditions and the energiser’s substantial output.

Dry, sandy and rocky ground may require additional galvanised earth stakes or an earth-return fence design. Keep the electric fence earth system at least 10 metres away from mains cabling, telecommunications equipment, water pipes and building earth systems.

Installation should follow the supplied Gallagher instructions. Use suitable high-voltage insulated cable and correctly rated insulators, switches, connectors and conductors throughout the fence system.
