Find Fence Problems Sooner

A fault on a large electric-fence system can take hours to locate manually. The MBS1800i monitors fence performance and provides information through the Energiser Controller, allowing you to see when voltage falls below the selected alarm level.

Optional i Series Fence Monitors can divide a large fencing network into monitored zones. When a voltage drop occurs, the system can help identify which section requires attention, reducing the amount of fence line you need to inspect.

Flexible Mains, Battery and Solar Power

The MBS1800i can be powered from mains electricity, an external 12V battery or an appropriately designed solar system. This flexibility makes it useful for large permanent fence networks, remote installations and properties requiring a backup power option.

Battery capacity and solar-panel requirements must be calculated according to the energiser’s power consumption, geographic location, seasonal sunlight and expected fence load. External batteries and solar equipment are sold separately unless specifically stated otherwise.

Understanding the 65km Rating

The advertised 65km multiwire distance represents a clean, well-constructed fence operating under ideal conditions. Gallagher’s recommendation of approximately 17km is generally a more practical starting point when designing a working multiwire fence.

Fence kilometres alone do not determine the correct energiser size. Vegetation, the number of live wires, conductor resistance, long underground cable runs, poor joins, damaged insulators and inadequate earthing can all increase the electrical load.

Installation and Earthing

This high-powered energiser requires a properly designed earth system. Install the required number of long galvanised earth stakes in permanently moist soil and space them according to Gallagher’s installation instructions.

Dry, sandy or rocky ground may require additional stakes or an earth-return fence design. Keep the energiser earth system separated from mains cabling, telecommunications equipment, water pipes and building earth systems.

The energiser must be installed under suitable cover and protected from fire risk, mechanical damage, children and heavy electrical equipment that may cause interference. Always follow the supplied Gallagher installation instructions.
