Gallagher MBS1000i Energiser

The Gallagher MBS1000i energiser helps you manage livestock fencing with greater confidence by combining dependable power with intelligent fence-performance monitoring. Instead of discovering a fault after livestock escape, the i Series system provides information that helps you identify changing fence conditions sooner.

With 10 joules of stored energy and 7.7 joules of output energy, the MBS1000i is suitable for larger permanent fences, multi-paddock systems and demanding livestock applications.

Gallagher MBS1000i Energiser Monitoring

The supplied Energiser Controller displays fence-performance information in a convenient separate location. It can be installed up to approximately 50 metres from the energiser using suitable compatible cabling.

The controller displays information including fence voltage, earth performance and alarm conditions. This makes it easier to see when the fence requires attention without needing to inspect the energiser directly.

Green performance lights indicate that the fence is operating correctly. A flashing or solid red light can indicate a fault or sudden increase in fence load that should be investigated.

Locate Fence Faults More Efficiently

Large fencing networks can take hours to inspect manually. The MBS1000i can be expanded with compatible Gallagher i Series Fence Monitors, allowing different sections of the fence to be monitored as individual zones.

If voltage falls in a monitored zone, the controller can help direct you towards the affected section. An optional compatible Remote and Fault Finder can then help locate the fault and switch the energiser off while repairs are completed.

Fence Monitors, remote fault finders and communication gateways are optional accessories and are sold separately.

Gallagher MBS1000i Energiser Power Options

The MBS1000i can operate from mains electricity, an external 12V battery or a correctly designed solar system. Mains and battery lead sets are supplied, allowing the energiser to adapt as your property and power requirements change.

Gallagher’s smart battery-management system can reduce pulse frequency and output energy when required to help protect an external battery from excessive discharge.

Please note: External batteries, solar panels and solar regulators are not included with the standalone energiser system.

Energy Efficient Fence Performance

The MBS1000i adjusts its power output according to changing fence conditions. This helps minimise unnecessary power consumption while maintaining effective livestock control.

Split-bolt recessed terminals provide a secure connection, while built-in lightning and short-circuit protection help protect the energiser from common electrical risks.

Understanding the 45km Rating

The advertised 45km multiwire distance represents a clean, well-constructed fence operating under ideal conditions. Gallagher’s recommendation of approximately 11km is generally a more practical starting point for a working multiwire fence.

Fence length alone does not determine the correct energiser size. Important factors include:

• Vegetation touching the fence
• Wire type and electrical resistance
• Quality of joins and connections
• Condition of insulators
• Length of underground and lead-out cable
• Soil moisture and earth-system performance

A shorter fence under heavy vegetation load can require more energiser power than a longer, clean single-wire fence.

Correct Earthing and Installation

A powerful energiser requires a properly designed earth system. Install the required number of long galvanised earth stakes in permanently moist soil and follow Gallagher’s installation instructions.

Dry, sandy or rocky soil may require additional earth stakes or an earth-return fence design. Keep electric-fence earth stakes separated from mains cabling, telecommunications equipment, water pipes and building earth systems.

Install the energiser and its power supply in a suitable protected location according to the supplied instructions.
